logo2Located in the state of Alabama, Lauderdale County was founded in 1818 and named in honor of Col. James Lauderdale, of Tennessee. The county seat of Lauderdale is Florence, which is also the largest city in the county.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lauderdale has a total area of 721 square miles, of which 668 square miles is land and 53 square miles is water.

The county is part of the Florence-Muscle Shoals, AL Metropolitan Statistical Area, also known as “The Shoals.”

The average household size is 2.36 people. 29.67% of people are married with children and 14.09% have children and are single.
